The Retrovirus Research Center’s goal is to promote and facilitate HIV / AIDS research in Puerto Rico. The Center nucleates a group of multidisciplinary researchers whose interests are to describe and understand key elements that play a role in the progression and / or expression of HIV infection from a biological, behavioral and psychosocial point of view. Several projects are maintained under the Retrovirus Research Center’s infrastructure. RRC studies the natural history of the HIV disease on an individual, as well as on a collective basis. • Describing key elements in the progression and/or expression of HIV infection in our population, the scope of evaluation is multidimensional and includes elements from a biological, behavioral and social perspective, which play a major role in the expression of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
  • Training and recruiting scientists for HIV related research efforts. This research infrastructure is composed of the HIV Central Registry and a Core Laboratory. It provides the basis for the generation of new knowledge by making available to the investigators the necessary data base and laboratory support for individual projects.
