Cell and Molecular Biology are two subspecialties of biological science that
have being producing a tremendous impact on human health and disease in the
last decades. The creation of this Center was envisioned in the
Institutional Research Strategic Plan to strengthen the Research
capabilities of our Institution. Our Center is expected to serve as a
catalyst to accelerate the growth of this important area of research in our
Institution. MCBC will be established to attain the following specific aims:
To provide a suitable environment
for the development and retention of incoming new faculty whose principal
research is focused at the cell and molecular level.
To foresee the development of two
core facilities equipped with essential and state of the art
instrumentation to support experimental protocols for studies at the cell
and molecular level.
To stimulate and facilitate the
transition that will allow established faculty to apply a cell and
molecular approach to their research.
